How to install Oracle SQL Developer on Ubuntu 18.04?

In this short post I will show you how to install Oracle SQL Developer on Ubuntu 18.04.

  1. Download the latest version of Oracle SQL Developer from the official Oracle website.
  2. Select “Other Platforms” and click Download.
  1. Unzip it in the selected folder.
  2. Go to the unpacked directory and run the script: sqldeveloper.sh
pawel@pawel:~/Downloads$ cd sqldeveloper-19.2.1.247.2212-no-jre/sqldeveloper/
pawel@pawel:~/Downloads/sqldeveloper-19.2.1.247.2212-no-jre/sqldeveloper$ ./sqldeveloper.sh 

 Oracle SQL Developer
 Copyright (c) 2005, 2018, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.

Warning: Nashorn engine is planned to be removed from a future JDK release

After a while, we can start using the software.
